As someone who is doing a full time masters program, on top of full time working, I have actually incorporated even more during my days.
First, if you didn’t know, I work with kids with autism. Because there is a lot on the line, I believe that they deserve my best everyday. That means I need to be alert, have energy, have strength and mobility and be quick on my feet during my sessions. I have to make it fun and I have to be happy. Which is why I do whatever it takes to take care of my physical and mental health to be there for them.
That is when I started changing my entire life.
Every morning I wake up at 5 am ( this took 2 months for me to adjust and be able to do) to get ready and drive to pilates or hot yoga/fusion. I have 1-2 rest days because it is very important to rest and restore your body so you have strength again. Because of my workout routine, I began to have more energy. Running after my kids wasn’t so tiring anymore. Playing and jumping around wasn’t so draining anymore. I had the energy to give.
After my morning workout, I eat my veggie and cheese scrambled egg with some toast and vegan butter. This gives me the protein to last the day and fill myself back up, and it gives me energy and makes me feel good. Ever since I started eating cleaner, I have been feeling so much better, so much energy. It is truly amazing how food really effects you, and I did not even realize it until I mainly ate healthy that food that is slightly unhealthy slows me down.
Mind you, I am someone who is busy, so I want to maximize my day and my time. I am actually writing this while I eat my breakfast before I go to work.
Then, I work and I study throughout my day. For lunch and dinner, my husband meal preps healthy food for us during the week so that we always have food on our busy schedule, and healthy food too. We used to buy food a lot, but we are not in that position to just buy food. Also, outside food makes my stomach hurt. So I enjoy just eating homemade food.
At night, after I study, I wash up, do my skin care, take magnesium (recently I got magnesium citrate from olly instead of magnesium glycinate and it actually helped me stay asleep better than glycinate. Glycinate gave me bad dreams). Then I sleep at 9:00 to get a full nights of beauty sleep before I wake up for the next day. I have one more year of this routine before I graduate but it has been helping me keep sane so far!
